Open-air burning of yard waste?
It's prohibited year-round!
For the sake of our air and our health, let’s recycle it!
ADEME in Occitanie www.occitanie.ademe.fr
Fall leaves, grass clippings, and branches: don’t burn them in your yard!
Air pollution has negative effects on health and the environment. These effects can be immediate or long-term (respiratory conditions, cardiovascular diseases, cancers, etc.).
Shredding and Mulching
Shredded small and large branches make excellent mulch for the garden and vegetable patch. Mulching fertilizes the soil, retains moisture, and prevents
weeds from growing.
Leaving the grass finely cut on the ground is an option when mowing without bagging.
Green waste can also be dropped off at the 530 recycling centers, composting facilities, or anaerobic digestion plants in the Occitanie region. It will be processed in a manner that respects the environment.
Penalty
Failure to comply with this prohibition constitutes an offense and
is subject to a fine of €750.
